Big Tex is Back: The State Fair of Texas Returns!

The iconic State Fair of Texas is kicking off on Friday, September 26, bringing all the deep-fried, fun-filled excitement we've been waiting for. This annual tradition, held at Dallas' historic Fair Park, has been a Texas staple since 1886. The fair has only taken a few breaks in its long history—for World War I, World War II, and most recently in 2020—making its return even more special. This year, the fair will run for 24 days, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the rides, games, and incredible food.

Beyond the fairgrounds, Dallas is abuzz with a fantastic lineup of events. Music lovers have a packed weekend ahead, with artists like The Addison Tour and Freddie Gibbs at the South Side Ballroom on Thursday and Friday, respectively. On Saturday, the American Airlines Center welcomes Bring Me The Horizon, while the House of Blues hosts Wilderado, and the legendary Alabama Shakes take the stage at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory. The weekend wraps up on Sunday with a special performance from the iconic Beach Boys at the Texas Trust CU Theatre. For sports fans, the action is non-stop. The Texas Rangers are in the middle of a home series against the Minnesota Twins at Globe Life Field, with games on Tuesday, Wednesday (Dollar Hot Dog night!), and Thursday. The Dallas Stars also hit the ice for a preseason game against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday at the American Airlines Center. College football takes center stage on Saturday with the State Fair Classic at the Cotton Bowl, followed by a huge NFL matchup on Sunday as the Dallas Cowboys face the Green Bay Packers at AT&T Stadium.
